Where im heading...

...after doing my research I would really like to concentrate on military wear and bring an edgy and possible darker side to it.

Fabric...

As I have never done menswear before I found it much harder to find suitable fabrics. I looked a lot at velvet and thick cottons.

Damaged and Forgotten...

I like the thought of a rustic but edgy look...

Toby Jugs...

Ever since I was a child i have always seen the Toby Jugs around my Nan's house but only recently have i looked at them differently. I really like the textures.

War Hero

This is a photoshoot from the magazine Dazed and Confused at the end of last year, even tho it is not up to date, I truly feel the War Hero really fits in well with my theme.

Letters...

Call me old fashioned but I think letters are cool, I love the thought of writing a letter I feel it much more personal.

This letter in particular was sent to my Great Uncle Vic during the war, my Nan seamed to think it was sent from the trenches. I think it is fascinating how I have piece of history.

Military Influence...

The suitcase was very war orientated. These three images stood out to me, i was fascinated by the uniforms and how they changed within just a few years after the war. There are different elements in each image i would love to try in a collection.

Forgotten Photographs

There were many old photos at the bottom of the suitcase, it was sad to find them as i could not track down who they were. The first image was taken in Egypt in the 50's and sent to my great Uncle Vic.

I think the second photo was taken during the second world war. I appreciate the fun element to it.

...nobody writes anymore

In the suitcase there was a photo album full of postcards, I took some of my favorites out. I really liked the old fashioned humour on them. I like the idea of writing too, nobody writes anymore which is sad...technology has taken over! I appreciate the simple things in life.
This was also found in 'Uncle Vic's' suitcase. The map really interested me mainly fro the colour. I took a few colour pallets from the image.

A few things I found in my Nan's Uncles suitcase. He was a lot like my Nan, he kept things that would be rubbish to many of us but it was a treasure to him. The stamps have created its own colour pallet and one that I think would be great in menswear.

I found the cigarette packet interesting as it was stained and ripped and seen better days.

The Suitcase Full of Lost Hopes and Dreams

As the clearing came to and end, i found a battered, old and rusty suitcase under a china cabinet. it was full of letter, postcards, old photographs, receipts, stamps, maps and old currency.
These are a few images I took of really kitsch things that my Nana had around the house, including things like my slippers from when i was seven and my Dads first tooth brush...I said to her 'Nan, why do you keep this stuff' she replied '...because it means something to me'.

I took Photo's of interesting things I found and took colour pallets from them. Colour is a big part of my inspiration.
...Badges off my Grandads Jacket. I was playing around with the image of the eagle for a possible logo for a brand or tag, with the slogan 'Turn the Temperature down...to Cool'

The first two images are off my Grandad's RAF jacket, and the last i found hidden away. I asked my Nan who it was and she did not no who it was or where it came from. I Noticed that the few 'Oldy Wordly' things i found had gold trims.
Well...this image sums up my title 'sentimental Hoarder'. This is a photo of my Nana Cello, I spent most of my time with her over the summer helping her move out of her two bedroom house in North Wales. I have always known my Nan was a Hoarder but as i digged deeper in the clutter I began to understand why she had kept all of these sentimental treasures over the years.
These three images I took while in New York this February, at Washington Sq Park. I took the photo's as they really caught my eye with three very different and individual style's. The guy on the right is cool, smart and sophisticated, and had been a big inspiration throughout my project.

After looking at ‘The Cool Hunter’ I then went on to do my own ‘Cool Hunt’, I took many photographs of interesting things I had seen over the summer, and I particularly like the image on the bottom right. It was taken at the Albert Dock’s in Liverpool of a passing ship. As it was raining this is the effect I ended up with, I can see an interesting colour pallet emerging.

These are a few images I found on 'The Cool Hunter', the photographs I tend to be attracted to are mainly landscapes. I am a very visual person and attracted to interesting colour pallets within the photo's. I find it a lot easier to find inspiration from photographs like these rather than actual garments, it is hard to design a garment from a garment.
